What are some good websites to find decent hotel/motels at reasonable prices in southern California?
I'm in a pinch to find a decent, not super expensive or a run down hotel/motel to stay while I'm vacationing in southern California.I have family that is moving out their house, and I was going to stay with them, but I didn't not know about this situation until now. I don't want to be intrusive to them. If I had known about this earlier, I would've went on vacation another time. It's too late to cancel my flight as well. I have looked on Hotwire.com and other travel sites. I want to see what the hotel/motel looks like and where it's located. I would prefer it to be somewhere in Long Beach, Orange County, or close to Moreno Valley. Please give me a quick informative answer a.s.a.p., because in 2 weeks I'll be flying out there. Thanks in advance!

Is EVERYBODY smoking dope today, or what? What do you consider "reasonable"? Long Beach to Moreno Valley? That's quite a spread, about 70 miles. Don't they teach "supply and demand" in schools anymore? OK, here's the deal: You're asking for a cheap hotel in some of the most expensice and sought-after real estate in the country. High demand and low suppy=high price. So looking for a nice but cheap hotel in SoCal in summer is an exercise in futility, like looking for a snowblower shop. Average price for a hotel room in Socal is $100 per night, and about $125-$150 in summer. That being said, the cheapest hotels are generally the Motel 6, Super 8, and Days Inn. If you want cheaper than that, look into a hostel. You'll generally need proof of travel, and the general age of guests is twentysomething, so they like to party. Good luck.

I recently went on a college trip to Orange County to check out a few colleges, and stayed at a Travelodge on South Harbor Boulevard, about two blocks from Disneyland. It was rather cheap, only about $80 or $90 a night, and it was pretty nice for the price. However, i did read in the lobby that the weekend rates are about $100 more than the typical weekday rates, so beware. But, like I said, it was a nice hotel for the price. Ask for a room upstairs (no noise, no bugs from the street, etc.). I am pretty sure it was called "Travelodge International Inn at Anaheim". Look it up! Good luck. (=
