Rent or purchase a small DVD player and some earphones. For an hour and a half they can be absorbed in a film. Space a few of these out, plus some of their time sleeping and you might be surprised at how much time you WON'T have to spend keeping them entertained. It may seem like an unnecessary cost, but these players can be found for under fifty dollars and can serve additional duty in the Hawaii hotels, where the costs of renting movies in the room can add up pretty quick. (usually over ten dollars for a single showing) Plus, if you buy one, you'll have it for future trips. Also consider a couple of inexpensive MP3 players, which can be found for under 10 dollars. Just fill them with HOURS of their favorite music and this too can keep the occupied without disturbing others on the flight. I know, not very creative, but ten hours is a LONG time to even TRY to actively entertain them. Besides coloring books, consider bringing along some blank drawing pads. Fill some of their carry on luggage with picture books geared to their age groups. Colorful photographs of animals, cars, flowers and such can keep their eyes and minds busy. You can suggest that they, first, NAME each of the images, and then, draw some of them, in color. May I suggest books, or, even , brochures of Hawaii, telling them that they may be seeing some of those objects in the books. You can also learn some simple, slight of hand magic tricks to impress them. Save showing these off for the trip, so that the surprise factor will be more impressive. Unlike professional magicians, you shouldn't be unwilling to repeat them as often as they ask. There natural, untested sense of wonder may keep them (and you) busy for a while.
