What do you need to a 1 week vacation to Cuba?
I am a 14 year old girl, I am taking a week long trip to Cuba with my parents, we are staying at a 4-star resort, mostly spending time on the beach and doing water sports. I am Canadian, we have two, one hour long flights and then a four hour flight to get there, so lots of travel! I know the basic things like clothes (my dad said to bring a fancy outfit "just in-case") swim suits and towels, basic toilettries like my make up bag, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, face cloth, body wash, shampoo, body spray, deodorant, I have a small first aid kit with things like tylenol, band-aids and disinfectant. Is there anything else I might need? I have flown to Europe a number of time so I have lots of books and entertainment for the travel time! All help is greatly appreciated! Thanks very much! Happy Holidays!

uurm, sun block is soooo important, but beside that you have pretty much everything listed that you would need. ensure you have enough money in their currency (pesos i think?) but they accept anything like pounds, dollars and euros. take a camera too, not a necessity, but really nice to have the memories there :) have a good christmas :P

Sunglasses; very dark ones. So you won't be able to see all the people that are miserable there and want to leave the Island and can't; The ones that can't go into the hotels because is for foreign tourists only. The ones that don't want to smile like everything was perfect there and end up in jail. You will find they sell everything you need at the hotel (not so for the general cuban public) so you don't have to worry about missing anything you need. Have fun.

You have it cased pretty much, we also travel with 2 first aid kits a small one for the camera bag and a larger one in the luggage. Here are my suggestions waterproof sun screen hat sunglasses Tim Horton's Mug (for drinks helps keep them cold and you don't have to run back so often) an underwater camera (film or digital) anti-diarrhea medicine (we haven't had any problems but you never know) a good attitude about travelling in third world countries You could also bring some of your clothes you aren't wearing that are in good shape to leave for the maids. have a good time and safe home

I'm Canadian too! I went to Cuba last February, although I stayed in Matanzas in a seminary so I had to bring a lot of my own stuff. You're going to love it there! You're definitely going to need lots of sunscreen. Even though its winter, it's like +20 there. I'd bring 2 bathing suits (just in case one breaks). Since you'll be spending a lot of time at the beach, I recommend goggles (just because :P ). I'd pack a lot of batteries for your camera and maybe more than one memory card. I highly recommend taking two bags of luggage and putting half of your stuff in each suitcase (partially because you don't want to lose anything, and partially because there's so many awesome souvenirs you can take back!). No taking pictures of the native people there unless they don't know about it because they'll want money from you. In this case the phrase "no tengo" (I don't have) comes in handy, but definitely take lots and lots of pictures! Be prepared to pay for using the washroom there if you go out and about sightseeing, and you should think of keeping a roll of toilet paper on you when you're going out for the whole day. You should definitely try a virgin mojito (it's the best). Do bring a couple sweaters. Even though its summer weather for us right now, it can get a little chilly. An english-spanish dictionary wouldn't be a bad idea. If you're a candy freak like me, you should think about taking some because junk food is rare (everyone that shared a room with me came into my room in the middle of the night to steal some because they weren't as smart as me ;) ). It may seem safe, and where you're staying probably is, but I wouldn't recommend wandering around by yourself, especially at night. Try to mingle with the Cubans if at all possible (if you don't already speak spanish, try picking up a few words to start a conversation. A lot of Cuban youth speaks at least some english, and body language covers the rest.) That's all I can think of. If you have any questions my msn is beckyganong@hotmail.com. I hope this helped :)
