Help with destination wedding in Long Beach, CA?
My Fiance and I are from Denver, CO. We have decided to have our wedding in Long Beach, CA (because it's cheaper than anywhere else we found that has a beach) and we need some help finding places. We are looking at having the ceremony June 6, 2011, a Monday. We want just a small shindig. Small ceremony on the beach (preferably at sunset) and then head over to a nice restaurant with a private room (perhaps one on the beach front) to have a nice dinner. As it stands right now we have 12 people definitely coming. I doubt the count would go over 20. There may be some kids coming too. So we need a restaurant (we all like seafood and Italian but all suggestions are helpful!), an officiant, some information on reserving a part of beach for the ceremony, maybe a good florist, a dress shop (for steaming my dress after the flight), and maybe some cheaper hotel suggestions for the guest and a honeymoon suite for us.

Try the Queen Mary.

I hope I can help you with this as I live here. Check out....visitlongbeach.com/weddings/ This is the Long Beach Convention and Visitors web site. It has a whole wedding section that will hopefully answer many of your questions. When my daughter married, they spent the first night aboard the Queen Mary in the Eisenhower Suite, then left on their cruise the next morning. We have a bunch of cruise ships that leave from our port. There are a ton of hotels downtown...none that are really "cheap". The cheaper ones are quite far from the ocean. Long Beach is the 3rd largest city in California so check maps when your finding places. We also have some beautiful parks that hold weddings also. Bluff Park overlooks the ocean and it has easy access.Just another idea..... Good Luck!

Try the Long Beach Museum of Art. It's on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and they have a restaurant. Quite a few weddings happen there. If you are positioned just right you won't have a back drop of the port or offshore oil platforms. I'm guessing you've never been to LBC. That still isn't going to be cheap though. If you want a casual wedding directly on the beach in LBC than contact Alfredo's Beach Club. They can pretty much arrange everything for you. La Palapa Del Mar is a restaurant that is directly on the beach in LBC. They are closed on Monday's. Just a heads up, the month of June is also known as June Gloom. It's mostly overcast the entire month, especially on the coast. The Hotel Maya in Long Beach is nice.
