Will Tropical Storm/Hurricane Hanna hit North Myrtle Beach? ?
Wouldn't you know it? I've waited all year for my vacation at the beach and now it looks like Hanna might be a problem. We are leaving Pittsburgh airport Saturday morning at 6am and flying to Washington DC where we will pick up a connector flight around 8:30am and will arrive at Myrtle around 10am. I'm afraid Hanna might ruin this long awaited vacation. Any insight??

All you can do is watch the weather. I don't know any more than you do. Wouldn't it be great if it just went back out to sea?

I wouldn't worry too much. It does look like Hannah is going to hit in that area and around that time, BUT...it's a really fast moving storm and only expected to be a weak Cat 1. We're ready down here. You'll get alot of rain on Saturday, and maybe some on Sunday, too....BUT, by Monday, it will be GREAT weather. There is SOOOO much to do in Myrtle Beach other than outdoor things, so you'll be JUST fine! I would be very surprised if power went out for more than a couple of hours--they will turn it off in order to minimize any danger and turn it back on when the worst has passed. Like I said....we're ready down here! If I were you, I'd just pack some extra snacks in your bag in case there are some delays or something. I know the area like the back of my hand--tell me where you'll be staying and I can probably give you some more insight. HAVE FUN! You'll love it down here!

We are leaving this saturday from cleveland to Newark to Charleston, SC and then renting a car to myrtle beach. Even though I think the beach area will be OK since the storm is not suppose to be strong, it is the connecting flight that I am worried about. In newark, they are probably going to cancel my flight and then when the storm passes SC, it will be near new jersey, so the planes can't leave the airport either. So we might spend all day at newark. Washington DC is not that far from Newark, so I think the same will hold for you. We are thinking of canceling our flights and driving (11 hours from cleveland), but are waiting until thursday to see how things are panning out. If you don't want to cancel, make sure you are ready for a long wait at DC.

I live in Myrtle Beach and they have already started planning for evacuation. The college (CCU) has canceled its classes for Friday and the elementary, middle and high schools have canceled all home games. Apparently we are going to start seeing some effects of Hanna on Friday and the major effects on Saturday. All you can do though is watch the weather and see if Hanna decides to take any sharp turns away from our coast. Hope I was of any help!

yes it will... you will not be able to get into myrtle beach airport... it is going to hit us in NC in the afternoon but it will hit SC earlier so it might rain alot before it comes and then it wouldnt be safe to land...
