Where should we go for Spring Break?
My step-sister and I have to choose a place to travel for Spring Break. The thing is, we have radically different personalities. She likes parties, fashion, clubbing, beaches, and shopping. I like museums, history, writing, photography, art, meeting new people, walking, stuff like that. We are both 18 and can drive, though I prefer solitude while she always wants company. Ideally I would accompany her to do what she wants while also having time to myself. We'd prefer a place where we speak the language. We both speak English and Spanish, but I prefer English, while she prefers Spanish. I also speak Italian. We would also prefer that the flight not be longer than 10 hours. I don't think she'd agree to England (and I went this past year anyway), and I didn't really like Paris (though I did enjoy smaller towns near the Pyrenees when I went to France). That said, staying in the US would be preferable, but not necessary. We've been to NYC twice this past year, so that's out. She suggested Los Angeles, but I can't think of anything I'd want to do there (but if you have suggestions, I'd be amenable to hearing them). I suggested Alaska, but she immediately declined. I have been to Spain (Madrid), but she hasn't, so right now, we're thinking Barcelona. But I think that's a bit far for her first time traveling out of the country. Another choice would be Amsterdam, but, again, we don't speak the language (though I'm sure enough people there speak English). I'd be open to hearing suggestions. Anything to do in Los Angeles? Canary Islands? Barcelona? ANY other place in the US would be great as well if there's enough for both of us to do. P.S. - We don't want any place that gets too swamped during Spring Break, like Mexico. We live in Miami, so we see plenty of that already. For this reason, beaches are also not necessary, though she would appreciate it. She doesn't like the cold at all, but I love it. Ideally it'd fall somewhere in the middle so we could both enjoy the weather.

chicago is a fun place to go. Barcelona would be nice even if it is her first time going, i dont think its too far. Belize is a really great place too. They primarily speak english but also spanish. There are beautiful beaches and rainforest. there are plenty of party places but also places where you can relax. I would recomend belize of all locations.

Considering both of your tastes, I think that Greece would be a good choice for both of you. The further south that you go would naturally be a bit warmer. I know that neither of you speak Greek, but the Greek people are so warm and accomodating, that they won't mind and will do their best to help decipher your "traveler's sign language"! Otherwise, you'd have the best of both worlds on Santorini or Karpathos I think.

Where should you go for spring break? Belize, the only English speaking country in Central America! You can get your English fix and your friend can get her Spanish fix. Belize is called, "The best kept secret in the Caribbean". Beautiful tropic isles that make "paradise" too small of a word and deep dense mountain rain forest adventures. Belize is home to the Western Hemisphere's longest barrier reef and is Central America's most forested country at 50% coverage. Belize protects 40% of their land area in nature preserves, biological reserves, wildlife sanctuaries and marine reserves. You can relax with some reggae tunes in bustling, lively towns or on completely uninhabited islands (cayes), do some fantastic dives (walls, channels, barrier reef, caves, the Blue Hole, night dives), snorkeling is great for beginners or pros, see amazing Mayan temples and cave burial sites, discover a myriad of wildlife, take nature safaris in to primary growth rain forest (ceiba trees 30 feet at the base!), see the tallest waterfall in Central America and other magnificent mountain cascades, go on sailing adventures, watersports of all categories, see manatees, crocs, sharks, rays and/or whale sharks on spotting tours, go cave tubing down crystal clear mountain rivers, zip lining in the canopy, speed boat through narrow mangrove channels or take open cockpit ultralight tours - kitewingadventures.com - over the reef, jungle and ruins tasting the adventure. Cancun is crowded, has nothing to do except sit in your resort. Costa Rica can't compete with Belize's reef and marine reserves, the Caribbean Isles are isolated and over priced with little or nothing to do inland. Belize has all! Read up on it a bit. You'll be glad you did.
